Rest in peace Carolyn

As we drove to my biopsy today I thought about my dear friend Carolyn Tam.   She was a fellow cancer warrior from Canada.  We exchanged many encouraging emails and I always enjoyed our gmail exchanges.    Although we never got to give each other a hug in person,  I was inspired by her drive, optimism and energy.  She was one (very beautiful) tough cookie and endured many obstacles throughout her treatment.  Even during the toughest times, there was always hope in her voice.  She never ever gave up.

I woke up several times last night with butterflies in my stomach because of today’s biopsy procedure.  Normally I sit on pins and needles until my results come in, but after the procedure I feel strangely calm and grounded.  Like Carolyn, no matter what my results reveal, I will not give up.  I will continue to fight.  There is too much to live for.

In memory of Carolyn, please get your friends, family, and anyone else you know registered on the bone marrow registry.   Thank you.

    Hi Michelle,
I am constantly impressed by your grace and presence of mind. I have a lot to learn from you. Can’t wait to meet you someday =).

    Hi Michelle,

    This is Patrick, Carolyn’s brother.

Carolyn talked about you all the time, and she drew a lot of strength from you too. I’m not just saying it.

She also said that your website is way better than ours, which I wasn’t happy about! Haha.

Keep the gloves on girl! You have no idea how many people you are inspiring everyday.

    Stay in touch.

    Sincerely,
    Patrick

Hi Michelle! I hope your biopsy went well today! God must have made a special tough cookie mold for you and a unique one for Carolyn, too. I know you’ll be able to face whatever comes your way. All your followers will be at your side, ready to support you. I’m thinking of this game called Viking, where when someone points at you, you have to yell and point at another person. While you’re yelling, the people flanking you on your right and left row (and yell “woo woo woo” as they row). It’s like a modified Kong Kong Shower, if you’ve ever played that. Anyway, we are all your rowers and woo-woo-wooers, whatever the motion of the tide. Let’s visualize the sunny skies ahead. They are there, just gotta keep looking and rowing.
