Update (Day +6)

Michelle got the results from this morning’s blood draw this morning and it revealed that she has 0.33 white blood cell count. This basically means 330 white blood cells / mm3 of blood. This is definitely welcome news since Michelle has been at 0.0 for the past week. A normal WBC count is approximately 4.5-10.0. The real number we are concerned with is actually how much of the WBCs are neutrophils. When the neutrophil count is above 500, we’ll know Michelle is in good shape. So, this is hopefully the start of a steady climb in blood counts, but we’ll just have to see how things go for the next week or so. We don’t have any expectations but just hope her counts naturally climb quickly.

Overall, Michelle is feeling okay. Her nausea and pain are still basically dominating her day. She’s given up on eating and will be on IV nutrition starting tonight. None of this is out of the ordinary, which of course doesn’t make it any easier for Michelle or for us.

That’s it for now. Hope everyone gets the afternoon off. We’ll have more to write tomorrow but for now, have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
