The uncertainty surrounding the mass on Michelle’s brain has been looming over us ever since the May 5th MRI that revealed it. The anxiety and frustration over not knowing what it is and not yet directly treating it has certainly been wearing on me.
As you know from Michelle’s prior blog post, she got an MRI done last Friday. Well, we got the results and it turns out that Michelle’s brain mass actually got smaller! When we heard this from the doctor, I was speechless. In some ways, it feels like a small miracle.
Presumably, the change in the size of the brain mass is a response to the chemotherapy that was targeting Michelle’s leukemia. Our medical team is still discussing the implications of these findings. There is no clear indication yet on what the mass is or what our treatment plan will be. From my perspective though, it would seem that the chances of a brain operation are reduced. This definitely made our day. There were definitely some big smiles and a little bit of celebratory dancing going on.

congrats to the both of you! I have yet to meet either one of you but I sure have heard A LOT from all of your close friends here in LA that I’ve met through various drives. I’m sure one day we’ll meet but until then I will continue to get updates from here. Again, congrats!!! =)

i’m really glad it’s smaller. have been praying for you and your fam. you don’t know me, but i got in contact with van and project michelle ny when trying to set up a drive. we’re praying for miracles at this end and for added strength as you move forward.
